Fundraisers- Janice Stroud - Next year I would like to have the Farmer's Markets on the second weekend of the month.
The Christmas Fair will be December 6 with setup on December 7. I would like to set up on Friday with a Christmas tree and some decorations. I would like to also do a toy drive for local kids who might be in need of Christmas gifts.
Soup Supper - Kim Headrick
Thank you to everyone who has donated and signed up. I still need people to sign up for bread and cornbread. I still need people to serve. We are in pretty good shape for our bake sale. We are trying a marketing technique, a name tag. The soup supper is 4 - 8 p.m. We will be available here at 3 p.m. We also could use some floaters to help buss tables.
After the meeting we will be doing an inventory of to-go containers in the storage room.
Group Me did not work well. It felt like communication broke down several times. We need to find a solution.
Old Business
We need to raise our rates for non Peck residents. We would like to keep the same rates for Peck residents. We are starting to get more and more out of town residents. Bryan would like to raise it to $500 for the banquet room and $250 for the classroom. Research of venues around the area says this is still a very reasonable rate. Any rentals after January 1, 2026 would be at the new rate. The deposit for any rental will increase to $300 and needs to be sent with the application. We will ask Bear to help us find a way to automate this process.
Lucretia would like to have the community center pay for the website if this makes it more expensive to run.
Deposit - The deposit should not be returned the same day, but will be returned within a week after checking for damages and cleaning problems. The deposit needs to be sent in when it's reserved, not on the day they get the keys so if someone cancels or is a no show, they forfeit their deposit.
Motion to raise the rate by Jonathan Headrick, second by Julie Bell. Passed unanimously.
Board Elections will be in January. Please let everyone know.
Sewer pump is still iffy. Not sure what they have to do.
New Business
Voting on November 4 will be in each school district, it will not be in Peck. Ann Lassey would like to put a note on the door so that people know they need to go to the district their child attends. We also need to post this on our Peck Community FB page.
Kim Headrick - We need to do more fun things like maybe card games or movie nights. Bryan - Friday nights aren’t usually rented, so it would be a good time to do something fun.
Jeff Petucek introduced himself as the face of the township. He is impressed with the work we are doing and thanked us for a place for the township to move in. We are having a drainage problem and Bryan and I have talked about digging a ditch around the weather building which could help but we need to talk to the weather person. They were supposed to be placing a new building at the first of the year but we haven’t heard from them. We also need to run some electricity to our storage container before winter so we can plug in our equipment. We would also like to go in together to put in a water well. And we are looking at some kind of enclosure for some of our equipment. The state does have grants available if we meet certain criteria. If there is a way that we could purchase a portion of the land so that we could qualify for the grants, we would be more than willing to work with you in any way possible.
Miscellaneous Business
Next board meeting will be November 24 at 7:00 p.m.
Jonathan Headrick moved to close the meeting. Kim Headrick seconded. Passed.
